Thursday, August 7th, 2014. The best day of my life. I waited 15 years for this night. Ever since I was 8 years old, he has been my favorite artist EVER. I’ve easily spent over 10k on events over the past 4 years, but this wasn’t any regular event for me. This was my second biggest lifelong dream come true. I had goosebumps the entire night. It brought back memories of my life up until this point. Tonight meant more to me than anyone can imagine.

First of all, HI! I haven’t been on here in a while. It’s tough keeping up with all this social media.
You see that date up there? That date will be the greatest day of my 23 years of existence. Why? Let me explain.
15 years ago, at the age of 8 years old, I didn’t really listen to music. My parents even asked me if I liked music at all and must’ve thought it was weird that I didn’t listen to any. One day, I was flipping through channels on the TV. I stopped on MTV. I remember there being 4 videos in constant rotation at the time; Last Resort by Papa Roach, Bye Bye Bye by N’Sync, Oops! I Did It Again by Britney Spears and the video I’m about to mention. The other music video was for a song called ‘The Real Slim Shady’ by an artist Eminem. It came on and It captivated me. It was catchy. The music video was funny. My life was permanently changed. The next single ‘The Way I Am’ came out and I fell in love with that single more than I did with the first. It was then I realized that not only was I a Stan, but that I loved music. 2 years later, he releases the first single, Without Me, off his new album, The Eminem Show. Again, fell in love. I remember getting happy whenever it came on. Then one day, I was with my dad at a gas station. I remember waiting in the car. My dad comes back in the car and hands me an amazing gift. He bought me a copy of The Eminem Show. Now… it wasn’t a legit copy. It was $5 and just a copy someone burnt. But I didn’t care. I got home, put it on this boombox that we STILL have to this day and just listened to the whole thing. For a year on end, I played the HELL out of that disk to the point where one day I once again put it in the boombox and it wouldn’t play anymore. Couple years of discovering music by other artists later, ‘Just Lose It’ is released. Amazing as usual. This time, the day Encore was released, I perfectly remember going to Target and buying it. I love/d it. A couple months later, Eminem made an announcement that made my heart drop. He’s retiring. I thought to myself, “My dream of seeing my favorite artist ever will never come true now”. I had never been so sad. For the next year, I spent my time listening to other artists. Whatever was on the radio. In 2006, 15 years old, my life was changed once again. I had a friend in one of my classes who showed me this song named ‘Dance With The Devil’ by an artist named Immortal Technique. After he showed me that song, I realized that there’s so much more to music and Hip Hop than the shit on the radio. It inspired me to go and discover the world on Golden Age and Underground Hip Hop. So for the next 2-3 years, I spent it deeply discovering real Hip Hop. I grew a distaste for just about anything on the radio. Occasionally, I would hope my favorite artist ever would come back. I would constantly go online and check up on the rumors. Then late 2008, my dream came back to life. Em announced his comeback and a new album! Mid 2009, 17 years old and my last semester in High School, Relapse is released. I bought Relapse the day it came out. I put the album on my iPod and it was basically on loop for the rest of the semester. SHADY WAS BACK. Couple months later, I’ve graduated already, I left my ex of 2 1/2 years and started college. I ended up reuniting with an old friend from 9th grade in College and once again, my life would change. He introduced me to a new style of music that had slowly been gaining traction, Electronic Dance Music. Now, I wasn’t completely new to it. Ever since I was a kid, I remember hearing that one Alice Deejay song. In 2004, I remember watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics and hearing this amazing stuff from a DJ called Tiesto. 2005, a friend introduced me to Hardstyle. The song that my friend showed me that fully got me into EDM 5 years ago was Let The Bass Kick It by Chuckie. After that, I went on a EDM discovery rampage. Back to this part of the story in a minute. Mid 2010 comes around, Eminem releases the first single, Not Afraid off his new album, Recovery. It wasn’t his usual first single. Regardless, I loved it. The day Recovery was released, of course I bought it in store. Beautiful album. Like I said, I was starting to really get into EDM. Me and a friend had been talking about going to our first rave, EDC. So we took the leap and went. In a way, that was kind of my first musical event ever. I had the time of my life. After that weekend, I started going event crazy. September 25, 2010, I made possibly one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. Eminem was announced as the headliner for Epicenter Festival. I decided against going because I didn’t really care about anyone else there and I wasn’t going to go for just him. After missing this, I didn’t know when or if I would ever get to chance to ever see him. I beat myself up for this. Like I said, ever since EDC 2010, I’ve been on an event spree. Events of all kinds, but mostly EDM. I have also gotten into just about every type of music. I have EASILY spent about 15k on events. My spree has led me to places like Miami, New York, Las Vegas, San Diego and Atlanta. My friends joke around that I’ve seen “everyone” TWICE. Fast forward to earlier this year. I wake up on the morning of February 21st to the greatest news ever. News I had been waiting on for the last 4 years. SLIM IS TOURING AND ONE OF THE THREE STOPS IS LOS ANGELES. The date? LOOK AT THE TITLE. Ladies and gentlemen, after the #1 dream on my bucket list which is to become something and live a plentiful life, the second item on that list, seeing the man who fed my love for music, will be crossed off in 3 days. Like I have told everyone, despite the hundreds of shows I’ve attended and thousands I’ve dropped, Thursday’s show will not be any regular show for me by any means. It’s my second biggest dream coming true.
Me and part of my second family took on New York this past weekend. Our lives have been forever changed. We had the time of our lives. It was magical just being on the same grounds where the greatest festival in world history took place 45 years ago. This was the first time a festival has been hosted on these sacred grounds since ‘69. I already miss it. #Mysteryland #MLUSA #ML #Woodstock2014
I just met one of my favorite DJ’s of all time. The creator of one of the first songs that introduced me to Electronic music 5 years ago. #Afrojack (at Create Nightclub)
"Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily TRANCE.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.” #ArminVanBuuren #ArminOnly (at The Forum)
